Never and Forever

The rain never stopped.

The muted space spread between them with each mile the car took. Yes, the darkened days were long and sweeping. Forever, it seemed to last. Down came the drops and away his thoughts. Too many miles. Ideas of dreamed heroics, times with the television blaring, smells of cooking in the room over. The feeling of skimming over it. Like the weather man said. It never did stop. It never did stop raining.
